The Covid pandemic has brought about great tragedies and loss for many of us.
We have experienced one of the most challenging periods in human history. Whilst some of us are more adept at coping with change and loss, many of us are struggling to overcome daily obstacles.
Humans are wired to interact face-to-face with one another. Our neurobiology has evolved to enable us to interpret and share meaning by analysing our body language, tone of voice and emotional intentions. However, isolation and virtual communication can exacerbate and heighten the personal struggles we deal with in our daily lives. Many are feeling over-whelmed by relational and financial issues that cannot be raised or addressed at work which may deepen stress and levels of anxiety unbeknown to employers or managers.
It is important to know that help is available to assist in coping more effectively with stress and anxiety. If anything, Covid has placed a focus on the importance of empathy and taking care of one another. Effective companies put people at the centre of everything that they do. This means providing support and strategies to enable people to deal with difficulties that have arisen as a result of the pandemic.
